Our story

18+ years of doing cleaning differently.

The Clean Crew started because cleaning was being treated as a throwaway job, easy to ignore and never really valued. We thought it deserved better.

18+ years on, we're a team of 28, trusted by more than 150 Hawke's Bay businesses, and proudly carbon neutral. We've put a lot into our crew, our gear, and the tech that lets you see what we do, but the heart of it hasn't changed: care, consistency, and doing the job properly.

We started sketching a cleaning-industry tracking app in 2018 and launched it in 2021, a New Zealand first. We're never done improving our craft.

Carbon neutral cleaning, independently certified.

To get our Toitū Net CarbonZero certification, we measured our whole footprint, transport, products, waste, and energy, cut it down where we could, and offset the rest through certified New Zealand carbon projects. We were the first New Zealand cleaning company to achieve it, in 2021, and our current certification runs to 2028.

Founded as Cameron Cleaning Crew
The business opens its doors in Hawke's Bay as Cameron Cleaning Crew, with a single van and a commitment to do cleaning differently.
2015
Renamed The Clean Crew
In May 2015 Cameron Cleaning Crew became The Clean Crew, the same local team under the name Hawke's Bay businesses know today.
2018
The app takes shape
Work starts on a purpose-built cleaning app after years of clients asking the same question: what exactly was done on my site last night?
2021
Toitū carbonzero and The Clean Crew App
Became the first New Zealand cleaning company to achieve Toitū carbonzero certification, and launched The Clean Crew App, the first real-time tracking app built for the NZ cleaning industry.

Founder and owner

A personal touch goes a long way in business.

Gary is the proud owner of The Clean Crew. With a background in retail management and hands-on cleaning experience, he understands the work from every angle. When you call, you know there is a local owner standing behind the service.

Gary is NZQA qualified, including Infection Control training, and holds an NZQA Assessor qualification. He believes the business is only as good as its people, so continuous training, trust, and pride in the work remain central to how the team operates.
